Summer Fight Camp Packing List 2026: Gear That Survives the Heat

Camp is won before the first bell

A good summer camp is logistics plus intensity. If your bag is wrong, your body pays for it by day three.

The non-negotiable kit

1. Fight shorts (2 pairs minimum)

One on, one drying. Heat multiplies laundry problems.

2. Rash guards

Cotton tees fail in July. A proper rash guard protects skin, manages sweat, and keeps partners from hating your sleeves.

3. Training gloves / hand protection

If striking is part of camp, protect the tools that pay rent.

4. Hydration system

Bottle is baseline. Electrolytes are competitive advantage.

5. Recovery stack

Band, lacrosse ball, sleep mask, and whatever keeps you training tomorrow.

Optional but high-ROI

  • Extra mouthguard
  • Flip-flops for locker rooms
  • Light recovery slides or lifestyle pieces for off-mat hours
  • Notebook for adjustments from coaches

Mentality packing list

  • Show-up standard (no negotiation)
  • One technical focus per day
  • Recovery treated as training

Bottom line

Summer fight camp is not a vibe. It is a system. Pack like you plan to finish.

Build the kit. Run the camp.

The Philosophy: Pack Once, Train Anywhere

Fight camp is chaotic enough without discovering you left your mouthguard 800 miles away. This list exists so you can pack a single duffel and know every session — striking, grappling, strength, roadwork — is covered.

The Non-Negotiables

  • Two pairs of training shorts minimum — one mesh for hot striking days, one 2-in-1 hybrid for grappling. Sweat-soaked shorts don't dry overnight in humid climates.
  • Rash guards (one per every two training days) — mat hygiene is real, and a sunburned back under a rash guard ends outdoor camps fast.
  • Your gloves + wraps — bag gloves and sparring gloves if both are scheduled. Never borrow gloves.
  • Mouthguard (plus a backup) — they get stepped on, literally.
  • Jump rope — the single most portable conditioning tool in combat sports.
  • Ankle supports + knee sleeve — cheap insurance on wrestling-heavy weeks.
  • Recovery kit — lacrosse ball, compression sleeves, and whatever your physician-approved recovery routine includes.

The Often-Forgotten

Sunscreen rated for sport (outdoor roadwork), flip-flops for the gym shower, a separate bag for sweaty gear, and one outfit that doesn't scream "I live at the gym" for the inevitable sponsor dinner.
